New Delhi, 14 November: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang handed over regular office orders to 148 employees during the State Level National Education Day, 2023 programme held at Kishan Bazar Convention Hall in Namchi (South Sikkim) on Saturday.
Addressing a gathering of teachers from all over the state, Chief Minister announced that the teachers who were appointed on temporary basis during 2014-2015, will be regularised before the beginning of 2024, as per the required guidelines. He also informed that of the 148 office orders which were distributed some of the employees have also been given the post of Junior Academic Admistrative Assistant for Primary Teacher’s, Academic Administrative Assistant for Graduate Teacher’s and Senior Academic Administrative Assistant for Post Graduate Teacher’s, as per their criteria. As for Assistant Professors the Chief Minister updated that they will also be considered for regularisation policy, as per the norms.
He also spoke about the importance of education which is a basic human right and underlined how teachers play a pertinent role in imparting academic excellence towards the students shaping their life as well as their career. They have assisted tremendously in providing a holistic qualitative education to the students from primary to the higher secondary level. He further acknowledged the efforts and dedication of the teachers and updated that they need to embrace the changing pattern in the education sector thereby equipping the students to be holistically competitive in nature. The Chief Minister added that despite of COVID-19 pandemic and the recent disaster (flood) the education sector under the State Government has functioned smoothly and will continue to do so.
He highlighted how, every year, National Education Day is celebrated on November 11 and informed that National Education Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad – India’s first Education Minister. This day is celebrated every year to understand the importance of education and how one can collectively work towards making education a priority and easily accessible for all.
Moreover, the organising committee also felicitated the Chief Minister, for unrelentingly elevating the field of education in the state. Additionally, the Chief Minister also distributed scholarship letters to 07 meritorious students for coaching for Civil service examination supported by District Administration in collaboration with ALLEN Institute of Civil Service and preparation. The organising team of Sikkim Probationary Association and Regular Teacher’s Association (SPARTA) also felicitated Press Club of Sikkim and Journalist Union of Sikkim, respectively.
