Patna/ National Bureau, 13th April 2022: A proposal meeting was held in the IT Department between a prospective investor (VueNow) and senior IT department officials under the chairmanship of Hon’ble IT Minister, Govt. of Bihar, Shri Jibesh Kumar and the supervision of Special Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Govt. of Bihar, Shri Arvind Kumar Chaudhary.

“We are looking forward to the proposal,” said Shri Jibesh Kumar, Minister of Information Technology, Government of Bihar. “Once we have evaluated the final plan, we will take it to the CMO for final approval.” I am glad to see investors expressing interest in Bihar’s IT industry, and I am confident that with a favourable attitude toward the state’s rising economy, investors will have a prosperous business endeavour.”

Bihar’s Department of Information Technology received a proposal of INR 817 crore from an IT-based organisation (VueNow) that specialises in comprehensive solutions for data management and computing requirements. In a nutshell, the company specialises in building and running data centres.

The preliminary concept is for the construction of a tier 4 data centre with 100 racks at the master hub location in Patna, with an installed capacity of 1.2 MW at full IT load, and a network of 40 edge data centres. In the first phase, four hub locations are in the plan for districts Dharbhanga, Bhagalpur, Purnea, and Buxar, with an aggregate power usage of around 2.4 MW at full IT load. Phase two included two hub locations and ten EDCs. The third phase would see the completion of 24 Edge Data Centres.

VueNow has already been allocated land by Government of Himachal Pradesh pursuant to the signed MoU, and has also been allocated 6 Acres of land in Silicon Valley Kolkata. They have inked an MOU with the Plovdiv technology park in the Republic of Bulgaria to develop the country’s comprehensive data centre infrastructure.

Bihar is rapidly becoming a leader in e-Governance and information technology. The State provides sufficient opportunities for the expansion of the IT and ITeS sectors and has created basic ICT infrastructure, including a State Data Center, a State Wide Area Network with e-district, and so on. The State Government provides numerous government-to-citizen services via the e-district site. The government is committed to establish the state-of-the-art facility as a State Command and Control Center.

The Department of Information Technology of the Government of Bihar offered options based on the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy 2016, which provides benefits and advantages to key industries, of which IT/ITeS is one.

“In today’s expanding digital economy, every business’s IT infrastructure must be scalable in order to maintain a consistent level of performance. With organisations inevitably undergoing a digital transition, data has become the most valuable asset for every firm. This creates an urgent need for data storage, which is where we come in,” stated VueNow’s managing director, Mr. V. C. Roy.

The feasibility study’s primary findings should be presented at the second round of proposal meetings, which will take place by the end of this month, according to VueNow’s MD, Mr. V. C. Roy.

The Hon’ble Minister of Information Technology of Bihar, Shri Jibesh Kumar, stated, “Investors will have our full support, whether for land or other requirements; we are unwavering in our commitment to creating Bihar as the eastern region’s next IT hub.”
