New Delhi, September 16: A mass joining program into the ruling SKM party was held on Friday at the 09-Barfung constituency, Namchi District, South Sikkim.
At the outset, Chief Minister PS Tamang welcomed several individuals to SKM family and encouraged their existing members and functionaries to embrace them and collectively work for the welfare of the people of Sikkim.
The SKM party was formed to provide a voice to the voiceless and with the ideology of inclusive politics, he said. Elaborating on the statement, the CM renewed their commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the Sikkimese people and reiterated the work performed by the Government in various sectors. Additionally, the Chief Minister urged all the members to adhere to rules and regulations, setting precedence for the youths to follow.
“Discipline, dedication, and determination are essential now more than ever. I appeal to our party functionaries to be mindful of it and urge everyone to work and maintain the sanctity of the party and be responsible towards our duties,” PS Tamang said.
During the event, the CM announced a 4% increase in the Dearness Allowance provided to government employees from the existing 38%. The 42% hike will be effective from January 2023 and will be provided with arrears before Dusshera 2023.
Further, One Rank One Pension policy will be implemented in the state, ensuring that officers who retired in 1994 receive the same Dearness Allowance as officers retired from 2023 onwards. The CM also assured that the old pension scheme will be implemented in Sikkim at the earliest
