CM TAMANG TALKS ABOUT DEVELOPMENTAL PLANS, REFORMS, ARTICLE 371F DURING BAISHAKI PARVA 2080 CELEBRATION

New Delhi, April 17: Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang attended the concluding day of Baishaki Parva, 2080 at Kishan Market in Namchi, South Sikkim. The Parva organized by Namchi Sanskritik Manch had the presence of Cabinet Ministers B. S. Panth and Bhim Hang Limboo accompanied by Chairmans, Advisors, Councillors of Namchi Municipal Council, Officials and public at large.

Addressing, the gathering Chief Minister extended his warmest greetings on the occasion of Baishaki which he said falls on the 14th April and heralds the first day of Bikram Sambat, 2080 the Nepali New Year. He termed this occasion which is being grandly celebrated in Namchi District as a historical one and urged the organizing committee and other stakeholders to make this an annual calendar event aiming to showcase, preserve the rich cultural and glorious traditional heritage of our state. He added that Namchi District should be identified as a place where Baishaki Parva is observed in a specular manner where the visitors can immerse themselves in the Sikkim’s way of life. He further said that the public as a whole should comprehend the significance of the Baishaki Parva and impart its message to the future generations.

He also announced that the State Government will be giving grants to various Dance Academies so that they can categorize and hone the skills of the youths from the state itself. Similarly, he said that the State Government will consistently upgrade the sports section and its various aspects and cited the example of the recently concluded Sikkim Premier League (SPL) and how successful SPL was in providing an opportunity for budding sports persons.

Speaking about the different initiatives of the State Government the Chief Minister said that substantial reforms has been made particularly in the health sector in which quality treatment by expert medical professionals for major and minor ailments are being done in the hospitals of the State Government. He also articulated the need for accelerating the tourism sector in the district which can be accomplished by the various stakeholders in coordination with the State Government.

Speaking about the various infrastructural projects which are coming up in Namchi District he said that a hospital is being build, a Block Administrative Centre is coming up in Kopchey, a university is soon set to be establish in Rong GPU and in Kamrang Alpine University has already been established. Moreover, he spoke in detail about 371F and assured that the State Government is committed in safeguarding the rights of the Sikkimese people.

During the course of the celebration the Chief Minister was felicitated by the organizing committee for his relentless support towards the development of the state. Likewise, the Chief Minister also felicitated the various notable individuals from literature, arts and culture background for the immense contribution in their respective fields.
