The next couple of months seem to promise an overdose of entertainment, with a slew of upcoming movies and shows across theatres as well as OTTs. While the trailer of southern star Vijay Deverakonda, Ananya Panday and Ramya Krishnan-starrer Liger is promising a mass drama full of action, film buffs are also intrigued by the glimpse of House of the Dragon, the next in the franchise of Game of Thrones. Moving away from the conventional, another interesting trailer released this week is of a thriller comedy Chintaa Mani, which would apparently be an unusual experience for the audience. Here’s a recap of all the top trailers released this week.
Liger
One of the most anticipated mass entertainers from down south, Liger, would mark the first pan-India release for Telugu film industry’s youngest superstar Vijay Deverakonda. Slated to be released in multiple languages including Hindi and Telugu, Liger is a power-packed drama with the lead playing a fighter, pitted against none other than boxing legend Mike Tyson. The film, helmed by Puri Jagannadh, further marks the southern debut of Bollywood’s Ananya Panday, who would be seen alongside stalwarts such as Ramya Krishnan, Makrand Deshpande and Ronit Roy. Liger is set for a theatrical release.
Chintaa Mani
Another trailer that caught the eye of the audience this week is that of Chintaa Mani, not because of a staggering star cast, but for its intriguing plot. A rarely seen kind on the Indian screen, Chintaa Mani chronicles an experience of three friends who get a future-telling stone from a roadside vagabond. However, things seemingly go haywire and the vagabond turns their life upside down. According to the makers, it is a unique culmination of different genres and sub-genres such as thriller, comedy, horror and sci-fi. Directed by Puneet Sharma, the cast of Chintaa Mani includes storyteller-filmmaker Sudhanshu Rai, along with Shobhit Sujay, Akhlaq Ahmad (Azad) and Abhishek Sonpaliya.
House of the Dragon
House of The Dragon, the prequel show of the internationally-acclaimed Game of Thrones, is set for release in August and its trailer has already caught the fancy of the audience. Based on a book titled Fire & Blood, House of The Dragon is based nearly 200 years before the events of the Game of Thrones began unfolding. Even as the fate of the show lies in the hands of the audience, it definitely promises a lot of dragons and sword plays. House of The Dragon stars Emmy D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Graham McTavish, Milly Alcock, Olivia Cooke and Eve Best, among others.
Good Luck Jerry
A black comedy crime film starring Jahnvi Kapoor, along with critically-acclaimed Deepak Dobriyal, Neeraj Sood, Mita Vashisht and Sushant Singh, Good Luck Jerry chronicles the journey of a young woman from Bihar, who gets entangled in drug trafficking. Out to save an ailing mother, Jahnvi aka Jaya Kumari aka Jerry is determined to go to any length to get money required for her treatment. Helmed by Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein and Undekhi-fame Sidharth Sengupta, the film seems to be a roller coaster ride.
