Har Ghar Dastak 2.0

New Delhi, May 31, 2022- The National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme has been ongoing since a year and 4 months during which it entailed multiple challenges and also witnessed unparalleled achievements due to the visionary leadership, immaculate planning and robust efforts by the Government of India. During the course of time, several strategic interventions were instituted to make the vaccination program and its process more people centric, convenient and pragmatic. Experiencing successful expansion of the programme in terms of scale and reach while maintaining the quality of the vaccinations services in implementing these strategic interventions (Workplace CVCs, Near-to-home CVCs, Mobile vaccination teams etc.), generated the required impetus and paved the way for ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ Teekakaran Abhiyaan. It was inspired from the time-tested strategy of Mission Indradhanush and included mobilization, awareness & vaccination activities for reaching out to all the missed out and dropped out eligible beneficiaries of 1st & 2nd dose through House-to-House visit from 3rd Nov’21 onwards. The initiative contributed immensely towards the astounding success of the programme by reaching out to the last mile beneficiaries including the old-aged, differently-abled and even the vaccine hesitant populations.

Incorporating the experience & learnings from this endeavour and with the aim of achieving optimal coverage among all eligible beneficiaries (12 years upwars), ‘Har Ghar Dastak 2.0’ will be implemented from 1st June 2022 to 31st July 2022 across all States/UTs. COVID-19 vaccination of all beneficiaries due for 2nd dose and eligible for precaution dose among the ≥ 60 years age-group would be emphasized through door-to-door activity along with vaccination of eligible beneficiaries in prisons, old-age homes, ashrams etc. As part of the intensive two-month 2nd round, focussed coverage of children aged 12-18 years will also be undertaken through a school-based campaign including Government, Private and Informal schools like Madrasas, Day Care Schools and a Har Ghar Dastak round for the non-school going children and considering the schools with summer vacations during the campaign period.
