HCL Technologies (HCL), a leading global technology company, and the Government of Maharashtra, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Maharashtra Young Leaders Aspiration Development Program (MYLAP) in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The MoU was exchanged between Shri Subbaraman B, Vice President, HCL Technologies, and Shri. Kailash Pangare, State Programme Director, Samagra Shiksha in the august presence of Shri Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra; Shri Balasaheb Thorat, Minister of Revenue; Smt. Varsha Gaikwad, Minister of School Education; Shri Aslam Sheikh, Guardian Minister for Mumbai, and other dignitaries.
TechBee, HCL Technologies’ Early Career Program, is a work-integrated higher education program that contributes to the “Skill India” mission of the government. As a part of HCL’s new people strategy for 10+2 students, the program offers IT engineering jobs by equipping the students with future-ready skills.
Besides India, TechBee has now opened to eligible candidates in Australia, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and the United States.
The program prepares students for entry-level IT jobs at HCL. Selected candidates undergo extensive 12-month training to become software engineers. Upon completing the training, candidates are employed in a full-time position with HCL.
HCL started TechBee in 2017 to hire the best talent and enable them to achieve financial independence at the start of their career. Over 7,000 students have benefitted from the program.
TechBee is a global program of HCL Technologies designed to further innovation in technology by skilling young minds. There is a significant need to create a talent pool that will be equipped with the requisite expertise and this program helps us create that pipeline of skilled workforce.
Students who have completed Class XII in 2021 or appear for Class XII in 2022 with Maths or Business Maths and obtained 60 percent or above marks are eligible to apply for the TechBee program. Qualified candidates will have to pass an Online Career Aptitude Test (HCL CAT), which checks their aptitude in areas of Quantitative Reasoning (Mathematics), Logical Reasoning, and the English language. Those who clear the test will be invited for an Interview/Discussion, after which HCL will issue a Letter of Interest/Offer letter.
Students selected for TechBee get a stipend of INR 10,000 during the internship in live HCL projects. While working, candidates pursue their higher education with BITS Pilani, SASTRA University, or Amity University. On completing the one-year TechBee training program, students earn a salary of between INR 1.70-2.20 lakhs per annum in the chosen job roles like Software Engineer, Infrastructure Management, Design Engineer, or Digital Process Associate roles.
The fee for the training program is INR 1,00,000 + Taxes. Loans are available through Banks, and the fee can be paid by the candidates in EMI format post their employment at HCL Technologies.
