ICPA’s Latest Clinical Series Discusses Magnification As An Indispensable Tool In Evidence Based Micro-endodontics

Mumbai, Jan 31: India’s leading Pharma Company in the oral healthcare segment – ICPA Health Products Ltd (ICPA) hosted its latest episode on Evidence-based Micro-endodontics. The 21st episode featured Dr Sourav Banerjee, Micro-endodontist, a pioneer in Microscope Enhanced Dentistry in the eastern part of the country. Dr Banerjee shared insights on how magnification and the use of Dental Operating Microscope (DOM) have become indispensable tools in Endodontics. He stressed on the importance of using a microscope and in the thumb rule that one should not guess or believe anything unless visualized. Micro-endodontics involves using a DOM to magnify the tooth interior and visualizing the narrow canals, so as to perform the root canal treatments accurately and prevent or manage the complications effectively.

Dr Sourav Banerjee explained to participants how resolution is the key when it comes to magnification, and how the resolution of the human eye is just not enough. He showed how unnatural, harmful postures especially, the forward head position, negatively impact the dentist’s health in the long run. Dr Banerjee spoke in detail how ‘ergonomics’ in dentistry aims to prevent musculoskeletal problems by enabling the dentist to adopt a more natural and comfortable posture while helping achieve greater treatment accuracy and efficiency. Dr Banerjee insisted on refraining from investing in cheap optics since these may do more harm than good and to instead purchase reputed brands. Lastly, Dr Banerjee impressed on the participants on how important it is to get well trained to use a DOM in the most efficient way.

Dr Sourav Banerjee has conducted over 90 CDEs under the program EndoConcept in his career. He is also the Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for Mani Japan and Kavo Kerr, among other reputed dental organizations. For the benefit of dentists who may have missed out, the session is available across ICPA’s various social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook and LinkedIn.

‘ICPA Clinical Series’ is an initiative to address specific clinical challenges dentists face in their everyday practice. Themed ‘Each Episode – One Clinical Challenge’, the series is moderated by ICPA’s Head of Research & Innovations – Dr Rajeev Chitguppi. Each session in the series has a guest speaker chosen from specialists from various domains of dentistry.
