Cosmos-Maya, a Singapore and India-based leading animation company has been consistently producing high-quality 2D and 3D animated content. The Hong-Kong based private equity firm acquired a controlling position in Cosmos-Maya in 2021, following the exit of ex-investors KKR backed Emerald Media with 4X returns on investment. FY 2022 also had several successful new show launches for the studio, one of the big ticket projects being the iconic Chulbul Pandey who was immoritalised on screen by superstar Salman Khan, now coming in an animation form with Cosmos-Maya’s Dabangg.
The studio has been at the helm of creating stellar children’s animated shows that have been widely appreciated in India and abroad. The studio is one of the most successful in terms of TRPs and viewership, working with the all major networks and streaming platforms Few studios have the distinction of having a key network driving animation show in their portfolio for every network. Be it the category topper Motu Patlu which airs on Nickelodeon & Voot Kids or the consistently popularity grabbing Selfie with Bajrangi on the Disney channel, Hungama & Disney+Hotstar or the mischievous and adorable rating contributor Titoo on the Warner Media network and the riproaring laughter generating slapstick chase comedy, Ding Dong Bell on Sony Yay in India, in partnership with Wildbrain in the rest of the world. The shows continue to enthrall kids across channels and Cosmos-Maya continues to stay committed to its commitment to bring about meaningful entertainment to the kids.
To add to that, the studio also runs its digital WowKidz – a multi-channel network that is a market leader responsible for defining industry trends and boasts a total of 38 YouTube Creator Awards (25 Silver, 11 Gold, and 2 Diamond buttons). While the network has been popular from the outset, the post pandemic viewership has skyrocketed and the subscription base has crossed 77 millions.
Over the past few years, animation has moved beyond just being considered entertainment for children and many countries such as Canada, Australia and Ireland have provided the industry with major impetus through policy support and government funding. All of these moves have helped animation as a genre to become a strong competitor to other entertainment options in the OTT space.
