Renault Nissan Automotive India to upgrade infrastructure for eight local schools under its ‘Karpom Munneruvom’ CSR initiative

· Over 2,400 students in and around Oragadam to benefit in FY 23

· Over 6,000 students have benefited from RNAIPL’s school upgrade projects in FY 21 and 22

· Classroom construction inaugurated by Nissan Global Chief HR Officer

13 July 2023, Chennai- Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd (RNAIPL) has announced that it will be investing over INR 1.4 crores under its ‘Karpom Munneruvom’ (Learning for Progress) initiative to upgrade infrastructure at eight schools in and around Oragadam as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility commitments for the 2023-24 Financial Year.

Between July and December 2023, RNAIPL will build classrooms and restrooms, and set up RO plants for drinking water, CCTV cameras, and inverters for uninterrupted power supply. The RNAIPL initiative supports the Tamil Nadu Education Department’s ‘Namma School’ initiative, which is working to enhance state public school infrastructure. RNAIPL’s infrastructure upgrade projects will cover a total of eight schools in Orathur, Nattarasampattu, Gunduperumpedu, Vadakkupattu, Umayalparenenchery and Walajabad.

Toru Ihara, Nissan Global Chief HR Officer, who was on a special visit to Chennai, today led the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the first two classrooms at the Government Higher Secondary School at Vadakkupattu village. He was joined by Anish Baijal, Corporate Vice President, Nissan Global HR Strategy, Transformation and Regional Operations, Frank Torres, President, Nissan India Operations and Keerthi Prakash, Managing Director, Renault Nissan Automotive India Pvt Ltd.

Since 2021, RNAIPL has invested in infrastructure development projects in nine schools across Kanchipuram and Chennai districts, benefitting over 6,200 children.

RNAIPL has also invested in community development projects in the environment and health sectors. It is currently rejuvenating multiple water bodies in the Oragadam area to improve water availability and conservation. Additionally, the automaker also recently completed the complete renovation of the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Chengalpattu Government Medical College, helping provide lifesaving care to thousands of children in the area
