Second International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee regarding the multi-country monkeypox outbreak

The WHO Director-General will convene the second meeting of the International Health Regulations (2005) Emergency Committee (EC) regarding the multi-country monkeypox outbreak on Thursday, 21 July from 12:00 pm CEST. The meeting will be only open to members and advisors of the Emergency Committee.

The Emergency Committee is expected to issue a statement in the days following the meeting. The statement will be shared with the media when posted on the WHO website, together with links to photo and video material from the meeting at HQ in Geneva.

The Emergency Committee will provide its views to the WHO Director-General on whether the event constitutes a public health emergency of international concern — and if so, it will propose temporary recommendations on how to better prevent and reduce the spread of the disease and manage the global public health response.
