New Delhi, June 1 (IPR): Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang Pledges the Vision of “TEAM SIKKIM” for the State’s Progressive Future on the 4th Government Formation Day celebration programme held at Manan Kendra, Gangtok.
This year’s celebration centred around the theme “Naya Yug Naya Sikkim” to honour the notable achievements and initiatives accomplished in various government sectors under the leadership of Chief Minister PS Tamang.
Addressing the packed auditorium the Chief Minister expressed his commitment to the vision of team Sikkim for the prosperous future of Sikkim and its people with the continuous support he has garnered from the public.
Marking this day as a moment of reflection on the government’s achievements over the past four years, the Chief Minister urged everyone to ponder upon their actions, both positive and negative.
He further congratulated everyone present, informing them that the celebration had been postponed from May 27 due to his prior commitment in New Delhi for the NITI Aayog programme.
Recalling the journey that led to the formation of the SKM party government on May 27, 2019, with a resounding victory in 18 seats, Chief Minister Tamang acknowledged the trust and faith bestowed upon them by the people of Sikkim. He unequivocally declared his commitment to assisting those in need.
The Chief Minister also shed light on the significant challenges faced by the government despite the COVID-19 pandemic, attributing their successful response to the unwavering support of the people.
In a remarkable display of resilience, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude towards those who attempted to undermine him and his government, stating that their motives served as motivation to work even harder and commemorate the 4th Government Formation Day. He emphasised the integral role played by the Sikkimese public in his upgrade to the position of Chief Minister and expressed his deepest gratitude towards them. He underlined the inclusive nature of their politics, stating that despite opposition and fears of retaliation upon taking office in 2019, they embraced a collaborative approach, working together to develop and uplift Sikkim. He emphasised that the government has always aimed to foster an environment of dignity and support for everyone so that they perform their best.
The Chief Minister informed that the state has witnessed a remarkable 57% increase in revenue generation. The CM highlighted the steady growth in revenue from 2019 to 2023, with percentages of 7%, 5%, 24%, and 57%, respectively. He reassured the public that the government was dedicated to enhancing revenue without burdening the citizens, adopting strategic measures with utmost transparency.
Acknowledging the crucial role of government employees in implementing policies and ensuring good governance, he emphasised the government’s focus on creating employee-centric initiatives. He said empowering government employees would uplift the public, and the state would progress.
He further emphasised the importance of government employees above the Deputy Secretary ranks to take government functions seriously. The Chief Minister emphasised that these employees hold crucial positions and play significant roles in the government’s functioning.
Assuring his commitment towards fulfilling the pending demands of the State, Chief Minister informed of highlighting the issues to the Prime Minister in their recent encounter regarding LT seat reservation, ST status for 12 left-out communities and visit of HH 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje to Sikkim.
The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude towards his cabinet ministers, MLAs, advisors, chairpersons, government officials and police officers for their unwavering support, which has contributed to the effective governance of the state.
