Soon-to-be-mother Sonam Kapoor today sent out an important message on anemia prevention to all mothers to be, asking them to invest in iron over gold and silver.
Delhi: More than half of all pregnant mothers in India are anemic and many pass it on to their children. Actor Sonam Kapoor, who is known for lending a strong voice to women issues, today shared a film that appealed to woman to take care of their own health and that of their unborn babies by investing in iron in their body.
Project Streedhan is a powerful anemia prevention awareness initiative by DSM, a global Nutrition major. The new Streedhan Godbharai campaign emphasizes the importance of iron consumption during pregnancy and is the latest in DSM’s anemia-awareness campaign, which first began in 2019, to bring attention to this unseen consequence of women’s health.
Sharing the film on Instagram, Sonam K Ahuja said, “To all of us who are going to be mothers soon, here’s a message that truly resonated with me. Remember the metal a mother’s body needs is not gold and silver, but iron. Isiliye mori tamanna, heera na paana, lohe ka mohe laa de re gehna”.
The film beautifully captures a Godbharai where a mother-to-be is being endowed with all worldly gifts, but her heart says, “Mori tamanna, Heera na Panna, Lohe ka mohe la de re gehna…” Delicious visuals of iron-rich fruits and vegetables are showcased as an allegory for expensive ornaments, through a soulful rendition of this verse. Streedhan campaign brings focus on the “mother-to-be” and how she can break this cycle by investing in her health and prevent anemia for the sake of her unborn child.
