Tata Power joins Earth Hour 2023 to create the Biggest Hour for Earth

Bangalore, March 24, 2023: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, supports World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF) to promote Earth Hour 2023, in line with its commitment to raise awareness and to shine a spotlight on the issues of climate change and nature loss.

In the month of March, Tata Power has reached out to its customers through digital electricity bills and messages encouraging them to contribute to the initiative by switching off non-essential lights from 8.30 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on Saturday 25th March 2023. The company is also creating grassroot community awareness across Delhi, Mumbai and Odisha, through its women change agents – “Abha”, through door-to-door interactions with consumers.

Enhancing the effort further, Tata Power Delhi has gone social with the awareness initiative using WhatsApp groups and social media platforms to reach out to Resident Welfare Associations and Societies, encouraging the public to participate in Earth Hour 2023.

Earth Hour serves as a symbolic “Lights Off” movement to show collective support towards the planet and promote public awareness on climate change highlighting the need for sustainable living. To mark this occasion, Tata Power is also organizing a beach clean-up and recycling drive in Mumbai as a part of Tata Volunteering Week, contributing to the global movement towards promoting sustainable development.

Spokesperson, Tata Power said, ” Earth Hour serves as an important reminder that small changes we make, together can have a significant impact on Planet Earth. As India’s largest integrated utility and a leader in renewable energy, at Tata Power, we understand the importance of resource conservation and sustainable practices. We are glad to support WWF on this significant event that will bring millions of people together as a gesture of care for our planet. Along with our employees, we are encouraging our clients, business associates, and communities to participate in Earth Hour to promote energy conservation and sustainable living for a better tomorrow.”

This year, Earth Hour is urging people and communities across the world to take an hour to create a global moment of change. As landmarks and homes across the planet take part in Earth Hour’s iconic switch-off, people are being asked to ‘switch off’ from their routine and everyday distractions and spend 60 minutes doing something positive for our planet to create the Biggest Hour for Earth

Tata Power is committed to resource conservation, energy efficiency, habitat protection, and holistic development of local communities in and around the areas of its operations. With its ‘Sustainable is Attainable’ movement, the company has been actively contributing to the country’s green energy transition and has consistently made efforts to extend this commitment to all its customers.
