Pune, December 19, 2022 – TK Elevator, an innovation leader and sustainability advocate in the elevator industry, has been conferred with the 2nd prize at the “National Award for excellence in Energy Management (NECA) 2022” in the manufacturing category by the Ministry of Power, New & Renewable Energy. This prestigious award was conferred by Raj Kumar Singh, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy at an illustrious award ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 14th December. The Hon’ble President of India, Droupadi Murmu graced the occasion with her esteemed presence.

TK Elevator has won this award for its commitment and outstanding performance in the arena of Energy Conservation and Management. As an industry leader and responsible company, TK Elevator prioritizes minimizing the environmental footprint of our operations and achieving ambitious carbon reduction targets through the substitution of non-renewable energy sources by cleaner and renewable energy. In India, TK Elevator is committed to achieving a Green House Gas (GHG) emission reduction target of 53% by 2050 from the base year of 2018-2019.

Some of the important energy saving initiatives undertaken by TK Elevator at its Multi-Purpose Facility in Chakan, Pune includes optimizing powder coating units, air conditioning systems as well as electrical transformers. To further reduce its reliance on traditional energy sources, TK Elevator has also introduced electric-powered forklifts or scissor lifts. Other energy-saving initiatives introduced by TK Elevator in India to further optimize energy consumption include the installation of motion sensors, LED lights and energy efficient machines such as punching, bending, and compressors with VFD. A solar plant at its Multi-Purpose Facility (MPF) has the capacity of 850 kw. Moreover, TK Elevator has achieved considerable reduction in electrical specific energy consumption by 29% and thermal specific energy consumption (PNG ) by 43% at its Pune MPF in FY 2020-21.

Globally, TK Elevator has achieved several key milestones on its sustainability journey: For three years in a row, the company has received an “A” rating for climate protection in the world’s largest climate ranking from the rating organization CDP and topped the global Sustainalytics ESG ranking in the machinery industry in 2021. In May this year the company published its first Sustainability Report and announced its new emission reduction targets, which have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. Recently the company received Gold status in EcoVadis sustainability rating. This places TK Elevator in the top 5% of all companies in EcoVadis’ current rating.

In India, TK Elevator has won National Energy Conservation Award 2022 from CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), Gold Medal for adoption of green manufacturing practices at MPF and 1st position in State Government awards for exhibiting excellence in Energy conservation and management. It has also been conferred with the ISO 50001 certificate for exhibiting excellence in the arena of Energy Conservation and Management.
