Chief Minister attends Pang Lhabsol Celebrations at Tsuklakhang Palace, Gangtok

New Delhi, September 19:  On the auspicious occasion of Pang Lhabsol, Governor of Sikkim Om Prakash Mathur, Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay accompanied Minister Sonam Lama and the members of Royal family of Sikkim participated in the Pang Lhabsol celebrations here at Tsuklakhang Palace, the revered royal monastery in Gangtok today.

Pang Lhabsol is a festival unique to Sikkim and is performed every year to pay tribute, honour and to propitiate the protective guarding deities of Sikkim, especially Mount Khangchendzonga, the guardian deity of Sikkim.

The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of such cultural celebrations in preserving Sikkim’s rich heritage. “Celebrating Pang Lhabsol not only honors our past but also strengthens our collective identity. It fosters a sense of pride and continuity in our cultural traditions,” shared the Chief Minister.

The event commenced with a visit to the monastery where prayers were offered for the welfare of the state and its people. The occasion was marked by the sacred Pangtoed Cham dance, a traditional performance that has been passed down through generations. The intricate movements and elaborate costumes of the performers, embodying mythical deities, captivated the audience.

The presence of the Governor and other esteemed guests highlighted the importance of promoting Sikkim’s cultural legacy for future generations. The celebrations at Tsuklakhang Palace served as a vibrant reminder of the state’s spiritual and historical roots, making the event a truly memorable one for all who attended.
