New Delhi, June 10: The State Government today commenced a two-day workshop titled “Viksit Sikkim Se Viksit Bharat-2047” here at Manan Kendra in Gangtok, to mark the Government Formation Day at the Centre and in the State.
The event has been organised to commemorate the completion of first successful year of the third consecutive term of the NDA government at the Centre and the first year of the second consecutive term of the SKM government in the state.
Inaugurated by Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, earlier today, the two-day workshop aims to serve as a platform for presenting and deliberating on departmental visions, achievements, and roadmaps in alignment with the national goal of transforming India into a developed nation by 2047.
Day one of the workshop featured detailed presentations by the heads of 35 departments and district administrations, outlining their achievements, ongoing initiatives, and forward-looking strategies under the framework of Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.
Among the departments that presented were Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Buildings & Housing, Commerce & Industries, Cooperation, Culture, Department of Personnel, Education, Excise, Finance, Fisheries, Food & Civil Supplies, Forest & Environment, Health & Family Welfare, Home, Horticulture, Information and Public Relations, and Information Technology.
District Collectors and Offices of the Superintendent of Police from Gangtok, Mangan, Soreng, and Gyalshing districts also made detailed presentations on governance, development initiatives, and grassroots outreach.
Departments such as Labour, Land Revenue & Disaster Management, Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Mines & Geology, Planning & Development, Power, Printing & Stationery, and Public Health Engineering also presented their respective progress reports and future action plans.
Sikkim Police also presented its efforts in ensuring law and order, public safety, and community policing, while highlighting its role in enabling a secure and conducive environment for development across the state.
The sessions saw active engagement from the departmental heads in enabling constructive exchange of best practices and improvement across sectors.
The workshop had the presence of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly, Mr Mingma Norbu Sherpa and Ms Raj Kumari Thapa respectively, along with Cabinet Ministers, MLAs, Advisors, Chief Secretary to the Government of Sikkim, DGP Sikkim, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries and officers from various departments.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Secretary, Department of Personnel and Planning & Development Departments, Mr Rinzing Chewang Bhutia.
It may be noted that day two of the workshop will reconvene tomorrow here at Manan Kendra with the remaining departmental presentations and deliberations.
