The Technology Enabling Centre (TEC) at Medicaps University, Indore, is emerging as a powerful catalyst for innovation, research commercialization, and industry-academia collaboration in India. Established under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, TEC-Medicaps is part of a nationally backed mission to develop a dynamic network that brings together researchers, R&D institutions, and industries under one umbrella.
True to this vision, TEC-Medicaps has built a robust innovation ecosystem anchored in multiple Centers of Excellence across cutting-edge domains such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), and Cloud Computing. These centers offer an enabling environment for students, researchers, and startups to transform ideas into viable, scalable solutions that address real-world challenges.
One of TEC-Medicaps’ key strengths lies in its hands-on, application-focused infrastructure. With specialized facilities like CNC manufacturing laboratories, pharmacy production units, agriculture testing labs, 3D scanning and printing setups, and a state-of-the-art incubation center, the centre provides innovators with the tools and platforms needed for experimentation, prototyping, and deployment. This comprehensive support system allows for seamless progression from ideation to industry adoption.
“At Medicaps University, we believe that innovation must be inclusive, application-driven, and future-focused. Through TEC, we are not only enabling research to thrive but ensuring it creates tangible impact for industries and society. It is a testament to our commitment to nurture talent, drive entrepreneurship, and contribute to India’s vision of becoming a global innovation powerhouse,” said Prof. Birajashis Pattnaik, Pro Vice Chancellor, Medicaps University.
TEC-Medicaps also boasts strong linkages with the industry, having partnered with several MSMEs and established companies such as Prashanti Engineering Works, Nobel Engineering, Udeet Electricals and JKM Ventures. These collaborations not only facilitate industry exposure for academic researchers but also enable joint product development, testing, and market integration.
Beyond physical infrastructure and partnerships, TEC-Medicaps delivers a wide range of innovation-enabling services. These include intellectual property facilitation, technology licensing, pilot project development, commercialization strategies, and training programs designed to build future-ready skills. By catering to the unique needs of academia, industry, and MSMEs, the centre plays a pivotal role in advancing collaborative innovation and problem-solving. Since its inception TEC-Medicaps conducted different events like CEO Conclave, Expert lecturer, Cluster Meet etc, which helps in bringing networking and collaboration among the industry and academia resulting in providing solutions to industrial problems.
Importantly, TEC-Medicaps is part of a pan-India network of 22 Technology Enabling Centres, joining institutions such as Amity University, BITS Pilani, KIIT University, University of Hyderabad and others. Together, these centers form a strategic national grid that is collectively driving technology-led progress across sectors and geographies.
