~Collaboration expands wearable health monitoring to rural communities and integrates Garmin biometrics with Apollo’s ProHealth~
Hyderabad, August 22, 2025 – Garmin India and Apollo HealthAxis, a subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals, have announced the next phase of their strategic relationship to improve health monitoring, chronic disease management, and overall wellness throughout India[1]. Building on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the Garmin Health Summit 2024, the collaboration has entered a new phase, broadening its reach and reinforcing its commitment to urban and rural healthcare.
In an important step, Apollo’s Total Health program’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative is now fully integrated with the Garmin Health API. This integration allows for the deployment of Garmin smartwatches and fitness trackers in rural India to monitor chronic diseases like diabetes. The collaborative research study seeks to determine how continuous health tracking improves health outcomes in underserved communities.
Speaking on the collaboration Mr. Juha Villanen, Head of B2B & Partnerships, Garmin (EMEA Emerging Markets and India), said, “At Garmin, we believe that technology can help advance preventive healthcare. Our collaboration with Apollo HealthAxis is a significant step forward in our efforts to provide actionable, real-time health data that complements clinical expertise. From rural communities to urban professionals, this collaboration will reshape how people in India interact with their health on a daily basis. We are proud to see Garmin’s wearable technology contribute to measurable health outcomes, and even more so, to be part of a mission that empowers individuals and communities alike.”
Customers purchasing select Garmin fitness trackers in urban markets now have access to Apollo ProHealth™, a doctor-driven AI program that collects health data, predicts disease risk, and provides personalized lifestyle recommendations. In contrast, select Apollo Health Plans will bundle Garmin wearables with their services, ensuring that users have a seamless health journey.
“At Apollo, we’ve always believed that healthcare should not be confined to hospitals alone — it should reach people wherever they are. This partnership with Garmin is another step in that journey. By bringing together wearable technology with Apollo’s health programs, we can empower individuals to take charge of their own well-being and also reach communities that often get left behind. Our vision is simple — to make healthcare more personal, predictive, preventive and accessible for every Indian, while at the same time we continue to excel in bringing advanced care to as many people as possible around the world ” said Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group.
“We are creating a seamless experience by combining Garmin’s advanced wearable technology with clinical programs like ProHealth and Total Health, which combine data-driven insights with medical expertise. Whether it is monitoring stress, heart rate variability, or sleep patterns, this collaboration allows us to personalize care and extend quality healthcare to those who need it most, both in cities and in rural India” said Dr. Sai Praveen Haranath, Senior Pulmonologist, Apollo Hospitals and SVP, Medical & Strategy, Apollo HealthAxis.
The advanced biometric tracking of Garmin devices, including key metrics like heart rate variability (HRV), sleep, stress, respiration, body battery, PulseOx, VO₂ Max, and physical activity, works in line with Apollo’s trusted medical diagnostics and advisory systems.
This one-of-a-kind collaboration is not only changing the way Indians think about wellness, but it is also influencing the future of digital health in one of the world’s fastest-growing healthcare markets.
