Punjab, 27 August 2025: Ambuja Cements, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, is supporting a powerful shift toward healthier learning environments in Bathinda as part of its CSR initiatives. By promoting tobacco-free schools, this initiative formed part of a broader intervention to prevent and manage non communicable diseases (NCDs) by addressing behavioural risks early.
In Buladewala village, concern over suspected tobacco use among students prompted school authorities, parents and the community to come together. With structured support from Ambuja Cements, the school launched a coordinated campaign including counselling sessions, rallies, awareness drives, and parent engagement meetings, particularly around World Tobacco Day.
Role-plays and street outreach helped reinforce the risks of tobacco use, while close coordination with local authorities ensured that vendors selling tobacco near the school were removed. Students became active participants in the change, taking the awareness messages home and encouraging a smoke-free culture in their neighbourhoods.
Buladewala School is now among 183 schools across Bathinda declared tobacco-free as a result of the Company’s ongoing CSR efforts. This initiative reflects Ambuja Cements’ commitment to enabling behavioural change through grassroots partnerships — turning schools into safer spaces and students into health champions.
