Chhattisgarh, 10 November 2025: Ambuja Cements, the 9th largest building materials solutions company globally and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, continues to drive meaningful community transformation through focused investments in water resource management and rural infrastructure. Implemented by Ambuja Foundation, the interventions in Baloda Bazar, Chhattisgarh, have achieved a remarkable Social Return on Investment (SROI) of Rs. 10.12, as per an independent impact assessment by CRISIL. This means that for every Re. 1 invested, Rs. 10.12 of social value was created — reflecting the program’s deep and sustained impact on local livelihoods, water security, and rural development.
The study, conducted across 10 villages and involving 252 respondents from marginalized communities, highlights how Ambuja Cements’ initiatives have strengthened access to clean water and improved daily living conditions. The projects have created over 220,000 cubic metres of additional water storage, reduced household water scarcity from 46% to 4%, and lowered the time spent on fetching water from 55 minutes to just 12 minutes. Adoption of sustainable irrigation practices, such as sprinklers, rose significantly, while improved road and school infrastructure enhanced mobility, education, and hygiene for rural families. Communities also reported a 60% improvement in health outcomes and a notable reduction in household medical expenses.
Driven by Ambuja Cements’ long-standing commitment to building resilient communities, the company continues to integrate sustainability and social impact into its core operations. Going forward, the focus remains on strengthening community ownership of water assets through user committees, expanding rainwater harvesting systems, and linking water security with sustainable agriculture. These initiatives reaffirm Ambuja Cements’ belief that true growth lies in empowering rural India through resource efficiency, infrastructure resilience, and inclusive progress.
