UPI payments now faster and more secure with biometric authentication on CRED

March 25, 2026: CRED members can now authorize UPI payments with their face or fingerprint. This enablement of biometric authentication across UPI payments on CRED makes transactions faster, more secure, and reliable.

Biometric authentication is available for transactions up to INR 5,000 on both iOS and Android, and works across all UPI use cases on CRED, including credit card bill payments, utility payments, merchant payments, scan and pay, peer-to-peer transfers and to check balance. With fewer steps involved, members can complete transactions seamlessly while minimising failures or delays.

This feature enables members to securely use the authentication method enabled on their own devices (iOS and Android), in line with regulatory guidelines. It adds a stronger layer of protection against fraud through PIN exposure and increases transaction reliability by preventing instances of incorrect/mistyped PIN.

This feature has been built in partnership with the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), enabling the use of additional secure authentication methods beyond the UPI PIN
