AKORIK all set for theatrical release on 7th April

The Official Trailer of the Bengali Feature Film AKORIK, a maiden production of Deepak Pareek’s start-up – Iceberg Creations LLP,  was released by Rituparna Sengupta in a grand event organized at the Hotel HHI, Kolkata on Tuesday, the 21st March, 2023 in august presence of the Cast & Crew of the film, Media and other guests.

AKORIK, Produced by Iceberg Creation LLP, Directed by Tathagata Bhattacherjee and Co-Produced by Deepak Pareek is all set for theatrical release on 7th April, 2023.

AKORIK is a story about a relationship between an old man, who grew up under the umbrella of traditional Bengali Joint Family System, and a boy, who lives with his mother – a single parent. The man and the boy, from two different generations, develop an emotional bonding despite their different upbringing values and eventually share a philosophical journey together. The film addresses a cultural crisis for the community i.e. disintegration of the Bengali Joint Family System. AKORIK is an attempt to discover whether the disintegration of the joint family structure has helped us to be more independent or has made us drift away from our roots and it tries to look into the situation neutrally searching an answer to a significant question- where are we heading?

AKORIK was officially selected for screening in the Bengali Panorama section of the recently concluded 28th Kolkata International Film festival (KIFF) 2022 and the film was screened at Rabindra Sadan and Nazrul Tirtha. AKORIK has also been a participant of the NFDC Film Bazaar 2022 held in Goa.

National Award Winning Actors Victor Banerjee and Rituparna Sengupta helm the cast along with Anuradha Roy, Angana Bose, Master Ankan Mallick, Sudeshna Chakraborty, Anindo Sarkar, Supratim Roy, Jayashree Adhikary, Abhishek Ganguli and Master Swapnadip Adhikary.

“AKORIK is a family film on a global social issue namely disintegration of the Joint Family System into Nuclear Families & further into Single Parenting” says Deepak Pareek, the Creative Co-Producer of the film and a well-known content creator and entrepreneur. Deepak Pareek further says that “while joint family can be seen as traditional, perfect & loving but at the same time, it can also be seen as restricting, conservative & rigid, and, AKORIK tries to grasp these concepts while portraying the bond between the 75-year-old man and a 10-year-old kid.”
