FHRAI Signs Memorandum of Understanding with IPA and IGBC during Travel for Life Summit

[Delhi, 8 March, 2024] – The Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), the 3rd largest Hotel & Restaurant Association in the world, signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Indian Plumbing Association (IPA) and CII’s Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) to foster collaboration and promote development in their respective industries.

The MOU, signed by Pradeep Shetty, President, FHRAI and Gurmit Singh Arora, National President, IPA and National Chairman, CII’s IGBC, signifies a mutual commitment to explore collaborative opportunities and synergies between the associations. The primary objective of the MOU between FHRAI and IPA is to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise in plumbing practices relevant to the hospitality industry. The primary objective of the MOU between FHRAI and IGBC is to promote green building concepts, emphasising collective growth and mutual benefits through cross-industry collaborations.

Key areas of cooperation outlined in the MOU between FHRAI and IPA include Undertaking Joint Initiatives for Sustainable Practices, Organise Collaborative Awareness Events, Sharing Resources for Infrastructure Challenges, committing to Water Conservation, Contributing to Carbon Neutrality, and promoting Efficient Water Usage through Technology.

Key areas of cooperation outlined in the MOU between FHRAI and IGBC include exchanging non-confidential information on all building sustainability matters, Supporting the organisation of activities, such as seminars, conferences, road shows as well as trade fairs and exhibitions.

Mr. Pradeep Shetty, President of FHRAI, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “These partnerships are aimed to drive collaborative action to enable the hospitality industry to have a lasting positive impact on our planet and its people. It is envisaged that these collaborations would bring together engaged hospitality companies and strategic partners and use the collective power of the industry to deliver impact locally and on a global scale. Sustainability is not merely a concept, but a transformative force with the power to redefine the future of hospitality. ”

Additionally, the MOU entails the exchange of non-confidential information on all building sustainability matters about hospitality sectors relevant to both the parties and disseminates such information to their respective members and will provide support to FHRAI Members for obtaining IGBC Green Building certification. IPA will conduct an extensive training program, the Indian Plumbing Professionals League (IPPL), for FHRAI members. This program will be held in physical formats across four major FHRAI centres and will conclude with a comprehensive quiz covering all relevant Plumbing Codes.

The MOU will take effect immediately upon signing and can be reviewed and amended based on the evolving needs and priorities of both associations. It is important to note that the MOU is based on mutual understanding and will have no legal or financial implications on either organisation, its members, office bearers, or secretariat.
