Chief Minister Dedicates Gorkha Gaurav Samman to the people of Sikkim

New Delhi, July 15: In a heartfelt tribute, Chief Minister Mr Prem Sigh Tamang dedicated the prestigious Gorkha Gaurav Samman to the people of Sikkim, acknowledging their dedication and hard work. This recognition highlights his unique position as the only Gorkha Chief Minister in the nation.

Chief Minister was honored with the Gorkha Gaurav Samman, on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of Nepali Newspaper Himalaya Darpan at Siliguri today, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the state and its people.

“I dedicate this award to the esteemed people, whose constant dedication and hard work have resulted in me being the only Gorkha Chief Minister in the nation,” he stated.

During the function, Chief Minister also unveiled the Sikkim Edition of Himalaya Darpan, a Nepali daily newspaper published by Darpan Publication in presence of Shri Shri 108 Mohan Priyacharya, Pranami Dharma Guru, Mr Raju Bista, MP Darjeeling (Lok Sabha), Mr Niraj Zimba, MLA Darjeeling, Mr Sandeep Choudhary, Publisher & Proprietor Himalaya Darpan, dignitaries and distinguished guests.

In addition to his tribute, the Chief Minister extended his congratulations to the Himalaya Darpan family for their 23 years of service.

“I would like to congratulate the entire family of Himalaya Darpan for completing 23 glorious years, becoming an important part of the Nepali-speaking community. I hope it maintains a strong commitment to excellence and dedication in journalism,” he added.

Chief Minister paid homage to late Mr Nar Bahadur Bhandari, former Chief Minister of Sikkim, for his dedication to the Nepali language, leading to its recognition in the Indian Constitution.

He also noted significant progress, stating, “In 2003, the Indian government granted ST status to the Limboo and Tamang communities in Sikkim and West Bengal. We must continue our efforts to secure similar recognition for the other left out communities,” he added.

Furthermore, Chief Minister highlighted various government schemes, initiatives and achievements related to health and education.
