Chief Minister of Sikkim participates in “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign

New Delhi, August 14: To conclude the two year celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi announced the nationwide campaign of ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’. Joining hands with the rest of the country. Sikkim too participated during the early hours, by inaugurating the Shilaphalakam (a honorary tribute to our bravehearts) by the Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang at the school premises of Government Senior Secondary School, Chakung.

The momentous event also had the presence of Minister, Education, Kunga Nima Lepcha, Zilla Adhakshya, Tila Devi Gurung, Secretaries, DC Soreng, other officers, retired army officers, students and the local community.

Upon his arrival, the CM was accorded to the ceremonious Guard of Honor by the 2nd IRB personnel. This was followed by the National Anthem.

As a part of the campaign, many events were held, simultaneously. The present dignitaries and citizens took the Panch Pran Pledge to make India a developed Nation by 2047, eliminate the mentality of Slavery, take pride of India’s rich heritage, uphold unity and solidarity, fulfill duties as citizen and respect those who protect the nation at the memorial which was administered by the CM.

Since, the program is a celebration and recognition of our martyrs and freedom fighters, the District Administration also felicitated Dawa Bhutia, a retired army personnel from Chakung GPU under Veeron Ka Vandan program.

The event was also marked by planting of 75 saplings under Vasudha Vandan program.

The CM was pleased to capture his moment of participation at MMMD by taking a picture at the selfiestand, installed by the IPR Department.
