CM Tamang attends virtual inauguration of digital banking units presided by PM

New Delhi, October 17: Chief Minister of Sikkim Prem Singh Tamang attended the inauguration programme of 75 Digital Banking Units (DBUs) in 75 districts, presided by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi through video conference today. The inauguration programme was virtualy attended from a spot arranged for the digital interaction at Titanic Park building,MG Marg.

The Prime Minister was joined by the Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Of State for Finance, Pankaj Chaudhary, Union Minister of State for Finance, Bhagwat K. Karad, dignitaries and officials from different states.

The DBUs are set up to ensure the benefits of digital banking to reach every nook and corner of the country. DBUs will provide a variety of digital banking facilities to people such as opening a savings account, account balance check, printing passbook, funds transfer, fixed deposit investments, loan applications, application for credit or debit cards, bill and tax payments and other facilities.

The conference was also attended by MLA Burtuk, D.R Thapa, MP Lok Sabha, Indra Hang Subba, Chief Secretary V.B Pathak, officials from the state government, SBI, representatives from Nationalised and other commercial banks.
