According to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini, Congress was involved in divisive politics during their rule in Haryana. He accused Congress of setting a false narrative. Saini alleged that due to rampant corruption, nepotism and casteism, the Hooda-led government was defeated in 2014 elections.
In the world’s largest democracy, elections are a routine affair. In October 2024, elections are scheduled to be held for the state of Haryana. As the Haryana assembly elections polling date (October 5) nears, politicians are fiercely attacking one another, exchanging sharp accusations and criticisms. In Haryana assembly elections, there’s intense rivalry between the incumbent BJP and the Congress-led opposition.
At a recent public meeting, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini made several accusations on Bhupendra Singh Hooda, the former Chief Minister of Haryana. He also criticized the earlier Congress government. Saini also launched an attack on the Congress at the Mhara Haryana-Non-Stop Haryana Jan Ashirwad Rally. This event was held in the assembly constituency of Kalayat. Saini criticized the previous Congress government, saying that their 10-year regime was full of “terror”. Saini further said that Congress party’s governance strategy had adversely impacted the state’s development.
Congress allegedly involved in halting government recruitment
During his address to the public, CM Saini alleged that Congress was sponsoring the “Bharti Roko Gang” (Recruitment Stop Gang) in Haryana. Saini said that when government jobs were announced, the Congress created roadblocks for the recruitment process by approaching the High Court and the Election Commission. In comparison, Saini talked about the achievements of the BJP government in Haryana. He said that around 1.2 lakh youths had secured government jobs through the Haryana Kaushal Rozgar Nigam (HKRN) initiative. According to Saini, Congress has methodically opposed the BJP government’s efforts to launch recruitment drives.
Farmers neglected during Congress regime, says CM Saini
In a Twitter post, Haryana CM Saini shows the alleged cheques of just 2-3 rupees that were given to farmers as compensation during the Congress regime. Saini said that such cheques reveal how farmers were neglected by the Congress party. In comparison, Saini pointed out that the BJP government has issued compensation to farmers of around Rs 13,000 crores in the last 10 years. This is around 12 times more than the Rs 1,100 crore that the Congress govt had provided during a similar time period.
Rampant corruption and nepotism alleged
Another allegation made by CM Saini is that the previous Congress government was involved in spreading untruth and dividing the social fabric of Haryana. Saini alleged widespread nepotism, casteism and corruption by the previous Congress regime. Saini said that due to these reasons, the people of Haryana had rejected Hooda’s administration in the 2014 assembly elections. At that time, the people of Haryana had given BJP the responsibility to govern the state.
With the 2024 Haryana assembly election date fast approaching, allegations, criticisms and aggressive political campaigns will continue to rise in the coming days. CM Saini’s scathing attack on the Congress highlights the escalating political conflict in Haryana.
