India’s most-downloaded dating app QuackQuack rings in the new year with a massive 35 Million userbase

As the calendar flips to 2025, India’s most downloaded dating app, QuackQuack, rings in the new year with a staggering achievement of 35 Million users and counting. The milestone cements QuackQuack’s position as one of India’s leading dating and friendship platforms; the app took the opportunity to conduct a study among 10,000 users who have been active on the app for six months and over to understand what works for them and to find scopes for improvement.

This study’s insights are based on a week-long online survey of users from Tiers 1, 2, and 3 Indian cities. Participants ranged between 18 and 40 for a more comprehensive perspective and came from various educational and professional fields, including healthcare and mental wellness, entertainment and influencer, sales and marketing, finance, creative art and media, nonprofits, fashion and beauty, sports and fitness, and also a fair share of jobseekers and people in between jobs.

QuackQuack’s Founder and CEO, Ravi Mittal, said, “2024 has been nothing short of transformative for us. We have hit 35+ Million users and 30 Million app downloads. There have been record chat exchanges and matches, which makes us believe that we are doing something right. We are hoping this survey will give us more ideas on how to make the dating experience even better for our users who have placed their trust in us.”

Trends that define QuackQuack
QuackQuack’s internal survey highlights the Weekend Warriors and C-Cube (cross-city connections) as the most defining trends. The app witnessed a remarkable rise in traffic during the weekend, with an 11% increase in screen time, leading to approximately 400.80 million screen views per month and 1.94 Billion profile views a year.

Cross City Matches also deserves a special mention. Over 30% of QuackQuack users between 28 and 35 disclosed going beyond their city limits, causing a significant spike in matches on the app. The app’s data shows around 5.18 Million matches were recorded last year, including both long-distance and local matches.

Secret to the Perfect Match
More than 38% of the active users revealed that they interact with people before matching with them, leading to around 53.46 Million chats exchanged in a month. Priyanka from Delhi said, “The Chat before Match feature is really useful. I might not match with more than one or two users a month, but I do get to interact with different types of people. And honestly, each interaction is an experience on its own.”

3 in 5 women claimed that chatting before matching is a game-changer. 32-year-old Ankita said, “It cuts down the time taken to figure out whether this is a good match or not. You have already had the small talk and gained a fair idea about who they are. You can just cut to the chase and start connecting on a deeper level- interactions that can lead to real romance.”

What daters want
More than 39% of men and women between 18 and 28 unanimously voted user safety as the first thing they notice while picking a dating app. Nishant, a 26-year-old social media content creator, commented, “Generally people think only women care about safe dating apps, but men do too. I stuck to QuackQuack because it had a thorough verification process while signing up and that made it feel more secure.”

What does the future hold?
QuackQuack’s survey shows a significant rise in reconnecting with past matches, resulting in around 2% of the monthly matches being rematches. Vijay (31), Lucknow, says, “I reconnected with a woman I interacted with last year and did not pursue the connection. It’s best this way because we were not ready then, but this time around, it just clicked.” QuackQuack predicts more people will look back on matches that did not work out once, and it might lead to a record rise in rematches.

The survey result also indicates the rise of the “UnFiltered” movement. There’s already a dip in perfectly curated bios and heavily edited display images. Among the 35,000 photos uploaded every day, the majority are raw and unpolished. 16% of men and women revealed that this one move makes them more relatable and hence, find more authentic matches.
