IPL Fever Drives 18% Surge in Bus Travel Across India: AbhiBus

Bengaluru, June 05, 2025: The IPL 2025 season wasn’t just played in stadiums—it unfolded on highways, terminals, and window seats across the country. According to internal data from AbhiBus, one of India’s leading online bus ticketing platforms, bus travel to IPL host cities saw an 18% overall increase between March 22 and June 4, 2025, compared to the pre-IPL period (January 6 to March 21, 2025).

The surge was most prominent in cities hosting high-profile matches. Bengaluru led the trend with a remarkable 29% spike in bus bookings on AbhiBus during the IPL season, followed by Chennai and Kolkata with 21% each. Other cities also saw noticeable growth in bus travel bookings, including Lucknow (16%), Hyderabad (15%), Mumbai (10%), Chandigarh (9%), Delhi (8%), and Ahmedabad and Jaipur (5%) each.
