Fast-tracks 200000+ cashless discharges , across 4500 + hospitals pan- India
Bangalore, 10 July, 2025: Medi Assist, India’s leading health benefits administrator, today announced a significant milestone for its flagship service, Raksha Prime, which has now enabled over 2,00,000 seamless, cashless hospital discharges across more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
Amidst growing concerns over discharge delays that continue to impact patient satisfaction, Raksha Prime is setting a new benchmark in efficiency and service delivery. In June 2025 alone, the service enabled over 27,000 patients to complete their hospital journeys at least four hours earlier than the traditional discharge process. This significant time saving is made possible by eliminating the need for patients to wait through manual steps such as document preparation, claim scanning, claim uploads, real-time processing, and final no-dues clearance. Powered by AI, Raksha Prime handles these backend processes seamlessly, allowing patients to walk out within minutes of receiving medical clearance.
Backed by strong feedback from patients and healthcare partners, Raksha Prime received an impressive customer satisfaction score of 4.75 out of 5, highlighting the service’s growing trust and value within the Indian healthcare ecosystem.
Built to tackle one of the most frustrating pain points in an insured patient’s hospital journey, Raksha Prime uses advanced analytics and AI/ML-powered tools to accurately predict out-of-pocket expenses and track claim approvals in real time. By streamlining the entire discharge workflow, the service enables patients to leave the hospital just minutes after receiving the doctor’s approval. This helps in effectively eliminating the typical 3 to 6 hour wait that is spent across preparing the relevant documents by the hospitals, insurance approvals and post approval formalities.
“Raksha Prime is redefining one of the most stressful moments in a hospital journey, the discharge, by turning it into a swift and seamless experience. By removing delays, we are making the process instant, hassle free and truly patient centric. Complementing this, our AI powered MAven Navigator provides members with real-time estimates of out-of-pocket expenses prior to admission, enabling better planning and informed decision making. Together, these innovations demonstrate our commitment to a seamless, transparent and member-first healthcare experience.” said Satish Gidugu, CEO of Medi Assist.
Raksha Prime’s rollout also aligns closely with recent regulatory developments. In May 2024, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI), through its Master Circular, directed insurance companies to ensure that cashless authorisation is provided within one hour of hospital admission and that final claim settlement is completed within three hours of receiving the hospital’s discharge request. Raksha Prime not only enables hospitals to comply with this mandate but also improves bed availability and reduces administrative burdens for healthcare providers.
By combining speed, transparency, and technology-driven predictability, Raksha Prime is redefining the cashless care experience and is turning a traditionally painful discharge process into a seamless, stress-free exit for patients across India.
