National Cooperative Union of India organises preventive healthcare camp for its staff and employees of members

  • Health camp held at the NCSI auditorium in Hauz Khas in association with the ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign and YoloHealth
  • Camp’s aim was to spread awareness about preventive healthcare solutions and diagnose onset of any lifestyle disease

New Delhi, 14 February, 2025: The modern lifestyle package of long working hours, unhealthy dietary habits, chronic stress, and a lack of physical activities has become the breeding ground for the silent ailments such as high blood pressure and hypertension. These lifestyle diseases are afflicting people at a young age and can no longer be associated only with older adults above the age of 45. This trend has become more dangerous since many individuals remain unaware of their deteriorating health until it escalates into severe and even life-threatening consequences. Hence, it has become important to create and drive mass awareness before it is too late.

Recognizing the urgent need to address this worrying health crisis, the National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) has organized a day-long health camp for its staff and employees of member institutions. In association with the Illness to Wellness campaign and YoloHealth, the health camp was organised at the NCUI auditorium in Hauz Khas, New Delhi.

At the camp, over 130 staff and employees from NCUI member institutions were tested across various parameters, including blood pressure, lipid profile, blood sugar, and various invasive and non-invasive tests. Many participants were diagnosed with conditions such as hypertension, obesity, and even diabetes.

In a significant development, out of the 52 people who had HbA1c test, 25 had a reading of 200 or more, indicating undiagnosed diabetes. The revelations were significant, as for these individuals, it highlighted the potential risk of irreversible damage without timely intervention. The camp’s health screening has now enabled these individuals to take control of their health and implement necessary measures for better management and prevention of further complications.

The camp was part of a series of health camps running for nearly a year in the city, conducted by the ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign and Yolohealth in association with various organisations that are recognizing the critical importance of preventive healthcare.

Speaking about the initiative, Mr. Anil Rajput, Chairperson, ASSOCHAM National CSR Council, said, “I am delighted to note that organisations are paying more attention to the preventive health of their employees. Many of them in the recent past have approached and associated with us in the conduct of awareness health camps in their respective offices. I am indeed happy to learn that the NCUI has also participated in our illness to wellness campaign, and made use of various preventive health awareness options that were provided by Yolohealth.”

The ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign, a national initiative dedicated to promoting healthy living, has been conducting a series of health camps to sensitise citizens on the importance of detecting potential health issues at an early stage. These camps are serving as an awareness and proactive health check-up platform, offering individuals comprehensive health check-ups and expert guidance on adopting healthier lifestyles.

At the camp, YoloHealth used its innovative product, HealthATM, demonstrating how technology revolutionises accurate health assessments. The HealthATM machines are an aggregation of US FDA/EU certified IoT-enabled medical devices with YoloHealth’s proprietary HIPAA-compliant software and cloud-based telemedicine platform. This pioneering initiative provides accessible primary and preventive healthcare services and empowers individuals to monitor their health and make informed decisions.

The Illness to Wellness and Yolohealth initiative was launched on March 28, 2024, and since then, the campaign has swiftly gained traction. Preceding this event, health camps were held at prominent locations like Janpath, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Birla Mandir, Aggarwal Digambar Jain Mandir in Connaught Place, Priority Health Care in Green Park, Shri Sai Bhakta Samaj, Guru Harkrishan Public School in Vasant Vihar, Shri Jagannath Mandir in Thyagraj Nagar, Community Centre in Malviya Nagar, CONCOR Annex in Okhla and Civil Services Officers’ Institute in Chanakyapuri.
