Shri M B Patil meets chip manufacturer AMD to discuss fostering innovation in Karnataka

San Francisco, October 07, 2023: Honourable Minister for Large and Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development Shri M.B. Patil on Friday had a productive discussion around skilling, Center of Excellence, and stimulating of start-up ecosystem with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) for Karnataka.

Discussions held with officials of the Santa Clara-headquartered company Shri Jay Hiremath, Senior Vice President, AMD, Smt. Soni Jiandani – Co-founder of Pensando Systems (AMD Networking Technology and Solutions Group) centered around various partnership opportunities.

Shri M B Patil is on a 12-day tour in the United States of America with senior officers of the Government of Karnataka. Hon’ble Minister for IT/BT and Science and Technology, Shri Priyank Kharge, Dr S Selvakumar, Principal Secretary to the Government, Department of Commerce and Industries, Dr.Ekroop Caur, Secretary to Government, Department of Electronics Information Technology Biotechnology and Science & Technology, Government of Karnataka, and and Smt. Gunjan Krishna, Commissioner for Industrial Development, and Director, Industries, and Commerce were present during the occasion.

The Karnataka Government delegation led by Shri M B Patil visited AMD’s Innovation Center.

AMD, a $150-billion company, manufactures microprocessors, motherboard chipsets, embedded processors, graphics processors, and FPGAs for servers, workstations, personal computers, and embedded systems applications. AMD has been present in India since 2001. Currently, the company has over 6500 employees in the country with offices spread across Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
