Shri Ram College of Commerce held its 95th Annual Day on December 14, 2022. Shri Rajiv Kumar, Chief Election Commissioner of India was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the newly renovated state-of-the-art “Shridhar Shriram Auditorium”. Shri Rajat Sharma, eminent alumnus, SRCC, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, India TV was Guest of Honour.
Prof. Simrit Kaur, Principal, SRCC presented the Annual Report and emphasized the role institutions play in instilling the requisite values in the students. She also enumerated the achievements that the college made in the last five years in research, teaching-learning and students’ outreach programmes and other areas. Shri Ajay S. Shriram, Chairman, Governing Body, SRCC and CMD of DCM Shriram Ltd. welcomed the honourable guests and spoke about the many infrastructure and other developments in the college. The Chairman congratulated all the award winners and their proud parents.
Shri Rajat Sharma remembered his dear friend, late Shri Arun Jaitley and their long lasting, friendship. He recalled at length his college days and reiterated how crucial a role SRCC has played in shaping him as the person he is now. Shri Rajiv Kumar, recalled his own experience, studying at DU, and how the University had a lasting impact. He addressed the gathering about the importance and significance of voting. Shri Kumar also spoke of revolutionizing of the ballot by technology and expanded on the notion of ‘every vote counts’. The CEC also made a presentation on how the unique demographic dividend in India will play a very important role in the next forty years.
The programme included release of college publications, presentation of awards and prizes and a brief cultural presentation by the students. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.
