Sikkim’s Vatsalya Scheme beneficiary couple extend gratitude to CM PS Tamang: Success Story

New Delhi, Feb 2: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang engaged with patients undergoing medical treatment in various nursing homes in Siliguri today.

A noteworthy instance from the Vatsalya Scheme (IVF) involved Kanchan Chettri and Nar Bahadur Chettri of Daramdin. The couple is joyfully ready to welcome their twins after a nine year struggle to become parents.

The couple expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Minister for the exceptional scheme and his personal involvement, making their parenthood journey possible.

The Chief Minister extended congratulations to the couple and conveyed his best wishes for a happy family life.

Vatsalya Scheme is a thoughtful scheme benefitting the mothers and increasing the fertility rate in Sikkim, launched by PS Tamang led Government in 2022. It is a women-centric scheme where an amount of Rs. 3 lakhs each of financial assistance for treating infertility is given to couples having difficulty in conceiving, to enable them to undergo In-vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. Both Government employees and Non-employees of Sikkim can avail benefits under this scheme.

Under the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Scheme, about 350 beneficiaries have been allotted cheques for IVF through the Vatsalya Scheme in a span of one year.
