Bengaluru: The 170th Special State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) meeting of Karnataka was successfully conducted today, as per DFS, GoI guidelines for launch of 3 months’ saturation campaign for FI schemes at Gram Panchayat level from 01.07.2025 to 30.09.2025. The meeting was chaired by Smt. Uma Mahadevan, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, Government of Karnataka.
The event witnessed the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including:
- Sri Bhavendra Kumar, Executive Director, Canara Bank
- Dr. Vishal R, Secretary to Government (FR), Finance Department, GoK
- Smt. Sonali Sen Gupta, Regional Director, RBI
- Dr. Surendra Babu, Chief General Manager, NABARD
- Sri Shambhu Lal, Chief General Manager, Canara Bank & SLBC Karnataka.
- Sri Bhaskara Chakravarthy M, General Manager, Canara Bank and Convenor, SLBC
- State Controlling Heads of various banks and senior officials from line departments.
During the meeting, Smt. Uma Mahadevan ACS&DC, GoK, strongly emphasis was laid on intensifying efforts toward financial inclusion. In alignment with the directives of the DFS, GoI, a three-month saturation campaign has been launched across all Gram Panchayats (GPs) of the State to enhance outreach under flagship Financial Inclusion schemes: PMJBY, PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY. The campaign will run from 1st July 2025 to 30th September 2025 and aims to ensure maximum coverage of all eligible populations under these schemes. District administrations have been urged to actively participate and support the campaign.
Activities to be covered during the campaign at GP:
- Reverification of KYC for existing inactive PMJDY accounts.
- Opening of bank accounts for unbanked adults under PMJDY.
- Enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
- Enrolments under Atal Pension Yojana (APY).
- Create awareness sessions on digital fraud & ways to access unclaimed deposits.
Sri Bhavendra Kumar, Executive Director, Canara Bank has instructed all member Banks to ensure the achievement of allotted targets by the end of 30th Sep 2025.
Smt Sonali Sen Gupta, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India has instructed all member banks to cover all eligible population, activation of DEAF Govt. accounts, Re-KYC accounts.
Dr. Surendra Babu, Chief General Manager, NABARD has informed that all Rural Co-operative Banks to actively participate in the campaign. District Development Managers (DDMs) will also monitor the progress of camps organized by RCBs and provide them support / guidance wherever necessary.
