Bengaluru, May 27th, 2026: The 175th SLBC meeting of Karnataka was successfully conducted on 25th May 2026.The meeting started at 03.30 pm, and elaborate discussions on various agendas took place. The meeting was chaired by Dr Shalini Rajneesh IAS, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka.
The event was graced by the august presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including:
- Smt Uma Mahadevan, Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commissioner, GoK
- Sri Bhavendra Kumar, Executive Director, Canara Bank
- Smt. Kaya Tripathi, Regional Director, RBI
- Dr. Surendra Babu, Chief General Manager, NABARD
- Sri. Shambhu Lal, Chief General Manager, Canara Bank and SLBC Karnataka.
- Sri Bhaskara Chakravarthy M, General Manager, Canara Bank and Convenor, SLBC Karnataka
- Sri Shreenath Joshi, General Manager, Canara Bank.
- State Controlling Heads of various banks and senior officials from line departments.
Sri Bhaskara Chakravarthy M, General Manager, Canara Bank and Convenor, SLBC Karnataka, introduced the new Convenor Sri Shreenath Joshi who is succeeding him on his superannuation. The further meeting was convened by Sri Shreenath Joshi.
Sri. Shambhu Lal, Chief General Manager, Canara Bank and SLBC Karnataka, delivered the welcome address.
Sri. Bhavendra Kumar, Executive Director, Canara Bank informed that as on 31.03.2026 under agriculture sector achieved Rs. 2,47,754 crores against target of Rs. 2,22,203 crores and achieved 111% of the allotted target in Fourth quarter. Under MSME Banks achieved 106% and total Priority Sector it is 108% and exhorted the Banks to continue the good performance in the ensuing financial year.
The Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, reviewed the State’s performance under Total Credit, Total Deposits, Priority Sector Target achievements, under various sub sector bank wise and district wise. The Chief Secretary also advised the bankers and Government departments to work in unison for smooth and seamless integration of developmental activities for implementation. Further the chairperson had reviewed all the Developmental schemes/ Government sponsored schemes and advised the Banks to clear all the pending applications. She also instructed all the Bankers to on-board the NRLM SHG BC Sakhi’s as BC agents in all the Gram Panchayat locations. The same was emphasised by the Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner, GoK Smt Uma Mahadevan.
Smt. Kaya Tripathi, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India emphasised the preparation of roadmap for Financial Inclusion 2025-30.She highlighted on the integrated portal for data updation.
Dr. Surendra Babu, Chief General Manager, NABARD informed the house that Banks have to work towards the set target and achieve the same well in advance.
The meeting ended with a positive note with assurance of all member banks and LDMs to move towards the set path for the financial year 2026-2027.
