History:
Rebel Foods origins can be traced back to 2004 when it was started as Faasos, a single food outlet in Pune, Maharashtra. After a couple of months, the second outlet was also opened in Pune. Faasos story took a break after that because growth options were limited at that time. Things like angel investors and venture capitalists and online food delivery were largely nonexistent at that time. The founders took a sabbatical and franchised the two outlets to their friends.
Faasos story was revived in 2011 when the founders managed to get investments worth USD 2 million from Sequoia. They opened 18 new outlets in top cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad. The company was subsequently registered in Mumbai. Since then, Faasos continued to grow across several cities. The company embraced technology, making it easier for customers to place their order via mobile app or their website.
In 2015, food delivery apps like Swiggy and Zomato entered the scene, which further boosted Faasos business potential. This is when the founders decided to transition to cloud kitchens. In 2018, Faasos was rebranded as Rebel Foods. The company gained further traction during the Covid-19 pandemic, as more and more people started ordering food online.
