Bengaluru, 19th March 2025 : Zuno General Insurance, formerly known as Edelweiss General Insurance, a new-age digital insurer, launches Zuno SmartDrive by integrating its innovative “Pay-How-You-Drive” (PHYD) feature with its core motor insurance product.
Zuno General Insurance becomes the first insurer in India to offer mobile telematics embedded in car insurance to reward customers for driving safer without any additional costs.
This flagship product offers personalized coverage driven by data, rewarding safe driving along with cost savings.
In a bold industry-first move, Zuno General Insurance has revolutionised car insurance by making ‘Pay How You Drive’ (PHYD) a built-in feature at no extra cost. With this first-of-its-kind initiative, every Zuno motor insurance policyholder will now have access to fair, personalized, and reward-driven pricing based on their actual driving behaviour. Previously available only as an add-on, Zuno’s PHYD now comes automatically with all new and renewing car insurance policies. Customers can track their driving score through mobile telematics embedded in the Zuno app, making safe driving more rewarding than ever before.
Zuno’s tech-savvy, environmentally conscious customers, including young professionals aged 24-45, will benefit the most. Whether it’s daily commutes or long road trips, safer driving now comes with financial rewards. The game-changing coverage option empowers users to assess their driving skills, receive Zuno Driving score, and earn rewards for safe driving. PHYD, launched last year exclusively by Zuno General Insurance, is an innovative coverage option available for Private Car Package and Private Car Stand Alone Own Damage Policy (SAOD) customers.
Zuno SmartDrive with built-in Pay-How-You-Drive calculates premiums based on real-time driving behaviour, such as speed, braking, and distracted driving. Safer driving will result in low premiums. Customers can monitor their driving score through telematics data of the Zuno app to track savings and driving performance. Unlike traditional insurance pricing, which treats all drivers the same, Zuno ensures that responsible drivers get the savings they deserve. The Zuno mobile app assess risk based on actual driving habits, resulting in a more personalized premium. This provides customers greater control over their insurance pricing, marking a departure from the current pricing approach. Additionally, it offers feedback and tips on how to improve driving, helping policyholders lower their premiums.
Shanai Ghosh, MD & CEO, Zuno General Insurance, said, “By incorporating Pay-How-You-Drive in our Zuno SmartDrive motor cover policy, we are empowering customers with greater control over their premiums while encouraging safer driving by linking pricing to safe driving habits. This initiative reinforces our commitment to providing our policyholders with an easy, friendly, and transparent experience while also contributing to safer roads for everyone. With Zuno SmartDrive, we’re not only reimagining insurance but also promoting safer driving practices by incentivizing safe driving behaviour. For us, this isn’t just insurance; it’s a commitment to innovation, transparency, and a safer tomorrow.”
Customers will qualify for additional savings on policy renewals based on their driving score tracked through the Zuno app. Not just savings on renewals, customers can also get rewarded weekly and monthly based on their driving scores. A weekly and monthly leaderboard will be published on the app, based on the driving scores, giving them rewards and continuous motivation to drive safely.
Through Zuno SmartDrive motor policy, Zuno offers its customer more affordable premiums by personalising premium rates according to their unique driving patterns. This offering not only encourages safe driving practices but also actively incentivizes the good driving behaviour through the discounts offered during renewals.
Unlike traditional insurance pricing, which treats all drivers the same, Zuno ensures that responsible drivers get the savings they deserve.
