Odisha, 13 October 2025: ACC, the cement and building materials company of the diversified Adani Portfolio, along with the Adani Foundation, is creating opportunities for rural youth in Odisha through its Utthan Sahayak Teacher initiative. Among the many inspiring stories is that of Laxmi Patel, a 25-year-old woman from Pipilipali village in Bargarh district, who has overcome economic hardship and physical disability to secure a dignified livelihood and inspire her community.
Laxmi grew up in a family of four, with her father working as a daily wage labourer. Living with a disability meant she faced additional barriers in education and employment. Her life changed when she learned about the Utthan Sahayak Teacher programme. Motivated by the opportunity, she applied, cleared the selection process, and in June 2025, joined PM Shree Khaliapali High School as a Political Science teacher. Alongside her school duties, she also provides private tuition in her village, which has enhanced her family’s income and stability.
This opportunity has transformed Laxmi’s life. From earning an independent income to contributing to her family’s livelihood, she now stands as a role model for other young women in her village. Her journey reflects the power of resilience and timely support, showing how access to opportunities can help individuals rise beyond personal and social challenges. By empowering Laxmi Patel, ACC has not only enabled an individual success story but also inspired a wave of confidence and aspiration in the community.
