NSE-MSEPP Conference 2025 on Digital Technologies for Financial Inclusion

The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the Dr S.A. Dave Centre for Research and Teaching in Finance, Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (MSEPP), University of Mumbai jointly organised the NSE–MSEPP Conference 2025 with the theme “Digital Technologies for Financial Inclusion” at the NSE Exchange Plaza in Mumbai on November 10th, 2025.

The conference started with the lamp-lighting ceremony in the presence of Dr Ravindra Kulkarni (Vice Chancellor, University of Mumbai), Dr S Sudarshan (Professor, IIT Bombay), Shri Shailesh Pathak (Senior Advisor, Policy & Media, NSE) and Dr Tirthankar Patnaik (Chief Economist, NSE). The conference started with keynote address by Dr S Sudarshan and discussed on how technology-enabled solutions have broadened participation in the capital markets. The conference featured engaging panel discussions between eminent market practitioners and academic experts exploring how the fintech revolution holds immense promise in redefining the way economies grow. Additionally, the discussions explored how innovations in digital finance are reshaping inclusion, intermediation, and payments in India’s evolving financial landscape.

Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD & CEO, NSE said “We are happy to host the NSE – MSEPP Conference 2025 on Digital Technologies for Financial Inclusion in collaboration with Mumbai School of Economics and Public Policy (MSEPP), bringing together leading experts to discuss how fintech and digital financial intermediation are reshaping economic growth. The exchange, in collaboration with the broader financial ecosystem, has been at the forefront of leveraging digital technologies to deepen access to financial markets and democratise investment opportunities. This conference brings together diverse perspectives to shape the future of digital finance—enabling collaboration across technology, markets, and policy to advance inclusive economic growth, a fundamental metric for Viksit Bharat.”

Dr. S. A. Dave, Former Chairman of Unit Trust of India (UTI) and Senior Alumni of MSEPP, said, “Digitalisation in finance represents a structural shift towards greater transparency, efficiency, and inclusion. Digital technologies are expanding access and empowering individuals and enterprises—particularly those at the margins—to engage more meaningfully with formal finance. As technology reshapes financial intermediation, the policy focus must be on ensuring that innovation serves developmental objectives—strengthening trust, safeguarding stability, and broadening participation in India’s growth process. Collaboration between academia, industry, and policymakers will be key to guiding this transformation responsibly and ensuring that digital finance contributes effectively to India’s economic progress. I am pleased that the Centre is co-hosting this conference on such a timely and relevant subject, fostering dialogue on issues that will define the future of India’s financial landscape.”
