Rajasthan Man Found Dead Near Palwal Weighbridge; Family Accuses Owner, Seeks High-Level Probe

In a shocking incident, the decomposed body of Mahesh Sharma, a resident of Shivsinghpura in Jaipur, was found near the Balaji Weighbridge (Dharmkanta) in Haryana’s Palwal district. Mahesh had worked at the weighbridge for nearly 15 years, and his sudden disappearance followed by the discovery of his body has raised strong suspicions of foul play among his family members.

The Mundkati Police received information on 4 October 2025 about a foul smell coming from behind the weighbridge’s boundary wall. Upon reaching the site, officers found a male body hidden in dense bushes and covered with grass, an apparent attempt to conceal it. Locals later identified the deceased as Mahesh Sharma, who lived alone at the weighbridge premises. The body was sent to the Palwal Civil Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

According to a complaint filed by Mahesh’s brother, Rajkumar Sharma, Mahesh had visited home on 6 September and confided that the weighbridge owner, Rakesh Singhal, had been harassing him. Mahesh returned to work on 9 September but soon went missing. Between 27 and 30 September, a co-worker, Akram Khan, reportedly informed the owner about Mahesh’s absence, yet the family claims they were never informed—even though Singhal knew Mahesh lived alone. This silence, they argue, indicates deliberate concealment.

Rajkumar’s written complaint alleges that Mahesh was murdered as part of a conspiracy and that his body was secretly dumped behind the weighbridge wall and covered with shrubs to destroy evidence. Based on these allegations, Mundkati Police registered an FIR against weighbridge owner Rakesh Singhal and his unidentified associates under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (murder), Section 238(a) (destruction of evidence), and Section 3(5) (unlawful disposal of a body). The case has been assigned to PSI Rohit Kumar, though no arrests have been made yet.

Mahesh’s family also claims they have been receiving threats from the accused, heightening their fear as the suspects remain at large. In a separate representation to senior Haryana officials, they requested immediate protection and urgent action in the case.

A delegation from Shivsinghpura village met Haryana Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam, submitting documents including the FIR and postmortem report. They demanded a fair, high-level probe, prompt arrests, and protection for the victim’s family. Community members stated that Mahesh had spoken about harassment shortly before his death, adding weight to the suspicions surrounding the case.

The troubling sequence of events—Mahesh’s alleged harassment, disappearance, the owner’s failure to inform the family, and the discovery of the hidden body—has left the family devastated and determined to seek justice. With the investigation still underway, they insist that authorities must act swiftly and transparently to ensure accountability and prevent any dilution of the case.
