Headstream Technologies Issues Digital Credentials at LIBAzaar

LIBAzaar Goes Paperless to Thousands of Participants

Chennai | February 2, 2026
Headstream Technologies, an education technology company focused on building trusted digital infrastructure for recognising and verifying learning and achievement, has partnered with Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) to implement fully paperless certification for LIBAzaar, the institute’s annual mega carnival, held on February 1.

As part of the initiative, thousands of participants and winners at LIBAzaar 2026 received verifiable digital certificates, issued through Headstream’s digital credentialing platform, Profential. The transition marks a clear departure from conventional paper-based certificates and reflects a broader shift within higher education institutions towards secure, technology-enabled recognition of student participation and co-curricular achievement.

LIBAzaar, one of Chennai’s most popular campus carnivals, brings together cultural performances, student-led competitions, street shopping, food stalls and interactive experiences, drawing visitors from across the city. The 2026 edition featured a wide range of cultural and creative contests, including music, dance, fashion shows, art, craft, spelling and video creation, alongside team-based games and live performances.

Under the digital credentialing model, participants were issued certificates directly to a secure digital wallet, ensuring permanent access to their credentials. Unlike physical certificates, digital credentials are tamper-proof, instantly verifiable and can be shared across academic, professional and social platforms—addressing long-standing challenges related to loss, damage and manual verification.

Education observers note that digital credentials are gaining traction as institutions look to modernise how learning beyond classrooms is formally documented. As student engagement increasingly spans festivals, competitions and experiential learning formats, verifiable digital records are emerging as a practical mechanism to capture and validate these outcomes.

The LIBAzaar deployment follows Headstream Technologies’ recent collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Madras, which adopted digital credentials for Saarang 2026, one of the country’s largest student-run cultural festivals. Together, these initiatives indicate growing acceptance of digital certification frameworks within India’s higher education ecosystem.

“Learning today happens across multiple settings, not just within classrooms. Digital credentials allow institutions to recognise this learning in a way that is secure, portable and future-ready, Loyola Institute has always been a highly respected institution we are happy and proud to be associated with in event such as this” said Pramod Damodaran, Managing Director, Headstream Technologies. “At LIBAzaar, every participant’s effort has now been formally documented in a format they can access and use long after the event.”

“At a time when every aspect of our world is going digital, it is only natural that student certificates and achievements are captured in a digital format. This approach ensures longevity, ease of access, and real-world usability. Students can securely store their credentials in a digital wallet and showcase them on demand—anytime and anywhere. We welcome this new-age, sustainable approach, which we believe will soon become the way forward for institutions,” said Prof. Shanthi Venkatesh, Area Chair – Marketing, Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA).

By issuing digital credentials at scale, LIBAzaar 2026 highlights how student-led events are increasingly serving as testbeds for sustainable, digital-first practices within higher education.
