Adani Foundation at ACC Thondebhavi Helps Rural Youth Access New Career Opportunities Through Skill Development

  • Thondebhavi’s youth, especially young women, faced limited employment opportunities despite being located close to Bengaluru.
  • Through its Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC), Adani Foundation at ACC Thondebhavi provides industry-relevant training, mentoring and community engagement.
  • In FY25, 114 youth secured placements at Foxconn in Bengaluru with a monthly salary of Rs. 17,552.

Bengaluru, Karnataka, 19 June 2026: ACC, along with the Adani Foundation, is helping young people from rural Karnataka build employable skills and access meaningful career opportunities through its Adani Skill Development Centre (ASDC) at its Thondebhavi plant.

Located just 80 kilometres from Bengaluru, Thondebhavi has long stood at the edge of opportunity. Despite its proximity to one of India’s largest economic centres, many young people in the region found themselves limited to low-wage work or unemployment. For young women in particular, deeply rooted socio-cultural norms often restricted mobility and access to employment, making professional careers difficult to pursue.

Recognising these challenges, Adani Foundation at ACC Thondebhavi established the Adani Skill Development Centre to bridge the gap between aspiration and opportunity. The centre offers industry-aligned training in Data Entry, Retail and soft skills, equipping young people with the practical knowledge and workplace readiness required to succeed in today’s job market.

The initiative extends beyond classroom training. Through continuous community outreach, mentoring sessions, parent counselling and the sharing of local success stories, the programme has worked to build confidence among both youth and their families. These efforts have helped address concerns around employment, migration and workplace environments, encouraging greater participation, particularly among young women.

As awareness and confidence grew, so did aspirations. Increasingly, young people from Thondebhavi began exploring opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings and pursuing careers in organised industries. Families that once hesitated to support employment outside the village became more open to the possibilities that formal jobs could offer. During FY25, 114 youth trained through the programme secured placements at Foxconn in Bengaluru, earning a monthly salary of Rs. 17,552. For many, it was their first experience of formal employment and an opportunity to contribute to their households while building independent careers.

For the youth of Thondebhavi, these placements represent more than jobs. They represent confidence, financial independence and access to opportunities that once felt beyond reach.  Adani Foundation at ACC Thondebhavi, continues to create stronger futures for the communities surrounding its operations.
