Star Trek facts that will take you Beyond the ordinary

Even though change is the only constant, some things hardly ever change. One of those is the popularity of the Star Trek franchise. Trekkies across the world wait with eager anticipation for the next Star Trek release, as the franchise continues to attract newer audiences and followers. You can imagine the popularity of Star Trek by the fact that die-hard trekkies had actually started hating Malcolm McDowell, who had played Dr. TolianSoran, the killer of Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek: Generations. There are reports that Malcolm McDowell also received threats for killing Kirk on screen.

With Star Trek celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, trekkies were expecting somethingremarkable, something much better than earlier movies in the series. Looking at the rave reviews the movie has received abroad, we can easily conclude that the newest release, Star Trek Beyond, has surpassed all expectations and set new standards. This is like coming full circle for the Star Trek movie franchise, since not many know the fact that it took nearly a decade to convince everyone about the potential of a Star Trek feature film. Even Paramount was skeptical about a feature film, and it took Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the original Star Trek TV series, nearly a decade to release Star Trek: The Motion Picture in 1979.

Star Trek Beyond retains its conventional classic theme, but the action sequences are now hugely spectacular, credit for which goes to director Justin Lin, who has shown his maverick in creating gravity defying action sequences in films such as The Fast and the Furious. There was a time when Star Trek movies faced problems with filming scenes of their spacecraft landing in alien locations, for which they deployed the concept of teleportation technology. While, the “beam me up, Scotty” gained immense popularity with trekkies, it does reveal the technology challenges of earlier times. However, Lin certainly does not face such limitations, as his frames appear to have the best combination of advanced stunt maneuvers and digital wizardry. Lin has also shown his adeptness in getting the best from the ensemble, comprising everyone from captain Kirk to Spock, Scotty and the rest of the crew.

The young, new age audience is thronging the screens in huge numbers, which shows their fascination for exploring the unknown and “to boldly go where no one has gone before”. It would be interesting to note that the aforesaid phrase, probably the most famous one-liner associated with Star Trek, is said to have been inspired by a passage published in a pamphlet issued by the White House to promote space exploration. The fascination for Star Trek movies has always attracted the best to be a part of these movies, including top celebrities such as Stephen Hawking, Eric Bana, Winona Ryder, and Chris Hemsworth.

Star Trek Beyond, the new enhanced version of the series, is certainly a must watch. For more info, just follow #StarTrekInInda. The movie’s plot, action sequences, and underlying message & secrets are all beyond the ordinary, so don’t miss it.
