ACCA and IIM Ahmedabad invite extended abstracts for Case Writing Competition in finance and accounting

Ahmedabad, 08 January, 2026: ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), a globally recognised professional accountancy body, has announced the Case Writing Competition in Finance & Accounting, a collaborative academic initiative with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA), India’s premier management institution. This competition is aimed at advancing high-quality, research-driven case development and strengthening industry–academia partnerships in the areas of finance, accounting, sustainability, governance, ethics, AI-led transformation, innovation, and strategic leadership.

As part of the initiative, ACCA and IIM Ahmedabad have opened the Call for Extended Abstracts for the Case Writing Workshop in Finance & Accounting. The programme invites submissions of original case proposals based on real-world business challenges. Selected participants will be invited to an intensive, in-person case writing workshop at IIM Ahmedabad, where participants will receive structured mentoring from experienced faculty and case experts, opportunities for academic recognition, and potential publication of selected cases. The initiative is designed for doctoral candidates, post-doctoral researchers, and early-career faculty members (post-PhD, with up to 10 years of experience) from leading institutions, offering them a structured platform to develop, refine, and publish high-impact teaching cases.

The competition seeks to encourage the creation of original teaching case studies rooted in real-world business challenges, with the objective of enriching academic pedagogy. Anchored in ACCA’s Think Ahead philosophy, the initiative reinforces ACCA’s commitment to research-driven and experiential learning and to developing future-ready finance professionals equipped to navigate an increasingly complex, technology-driven business environment.

Speaking on the collaboration, Mr. Mohammed Sajid Khan, Director – India, ACCA, said, “Our collaboration with IIM Ahmedabad on this case-writing competition reflects a shared commitment to strengthening how business education connects theory with real-world decision-making. Well-crafted business cases play a critical role in helping students move beyond textbooks sharpening judgment, contextual thinking, and the ability to apply knowledge in practical situations. By recognising and further developing case-writing capabilities among academicians, we are investing in learning experiences that better reflect the realities employers expect graduates to be prepared for.”

Neerav Nagar, Associate Professor, IIM Ahmedabad, added, “This workshop invites researchers to transform real-world finance and accounting challenges into thoughtful, practice-oriented teaching cases that will enrich classroom learning. With guidance from experienced mentors and collaborative learning, the workshop offers a strong platform for authors to refine their ideas and share them with a wider academic community, creating meaningful contributions in the field of finance and accounting.”
