India, 20th June 2024: Strengthening its initiative towards building a digitally inclusive society, ACT Fibernet (Atria Convergence Technologies Ltd.), India’s largest fiber-focused wired broadband ISP, aims to connect India with one hotspot at a time. The internet service provider is bridging the digital divide nationwide with more than 4,500 Wi-Fi hotspots in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore.

This initiative provides seamless internet connectivity to millions of users in public spaces, including hospitals, bus stops, malls, public libraries, parks, and schools. With these hotspots, everyone, from students and professionals to families and travellers, can stay connected to high-speed internet.

ACT Fibernet’s network of Wi-Fi hotspots has served a user base of 2 million and 1 million unique users. Wi-Fi hotspots have facilitated substantial data usage, with 1182 TB of data downloaded and 152 GB of data uploaded. This initiative is a testament to ACT Fibernet’s commitment to digital inclusion and providing reliable internet access to all segments of society.

Existing ACT Fibernet customers can also enjoy their home broadband speeds at these hotspots. For example, if a customer has a 100 Mbps plan at home, they will experience the same 100 Mbps speed at any ACT Wi-Fi hotspot by simply logging in with their ACT credentials.

Mr Sarath Kumar, CTO of ACT Fibernet said, “In today’s world, internet access is not a luxury but a necessity. However, access to digital infrastructure remains a major challenge in bridging the digital divide in the country. Our public hotspots bridge that gap by providing people with high-speed internet in different locations. They ensure that communities have the resources they need to stay connected, informed, and empowered in today’s digital world. At ACT Fibernet, we are committed to democratising access to the internet.”

To ensure inclusive access, guest users can also benefit from ACT Fibernet’s public Wi-Fi by logging in through the ACT Free Wi-Fi portal using their phone number and OTP. Guest users can enjoy 45 minutes of free internet at 40 Mbps speed with a data limit of 1 GB per session, making it easier for everyone to access critical information and services without any cost.
