AIC-JKLU Incubated Startup Successfully Conducts Static Fire Test; Initiates Design Enhancements for Next Phase

Jaipur, March 2026: An Atal Incubation Centre-JK Lakshmipat University (AIC-JKLU)-incubated startup, BAAS Technologies Private Limited, successfully conducted a static fire test of its solid rocket motor at a secured test facility at JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, marking a significant milestone in its propulsion development journey. The test was executed on a reinforced test stand equipped with calibrated load cells to accurately measure thrust output and monitor chamber pressure throughout the burn under real operating conditions.

The static fire test was designed to validate the structural integrity of the motor casing under operational pressure, record thrust performance data, and demonstrate the reliability of the company’s in-house developed wireless ignition system.

A key highlight of the test was the successful triggering of the wireless ignition system from a safe distance of 500 meters. The ignition sequence initiated as planned, and the hot fire test commenced in a controlled and monitored manner, demonstrating effective system integration and operational readiness.

During post-test analysis, it was observed that the nozzle experienced clogging during the burn. This obstruction resulted in a sudden spike in chamber pressure, generating a peak force of approximately 36 kN. The unexpected pressure surge exceeded the structural tolerance of the motor casing, leading to delamination of carbon fiber threads.

Despite the structural failure under peak pressure conditions, the test generated critical performance data and valuable engineering insights. The thrust and pressure data recorded during the burn are currently being analysed to optimise structural integrity, nozzle flow characteristics, and overall motor reliability.

Reflecting on the test results, Tanmay Kanmahale, Founder, BAAS Technologies, said, “Every test, whether successful or challenging, gives us critical insights. This static fire test helped us validate our ignition system and gather important data that will guide the next iteration of our motor design”

“The static fire test by BAAS Technologies Pvt. Ltd. reflects the importance of rigorous testing and continuous learning in advanced propulsion development. At AIC–JKLU, we are proud to support startups pushing the boundaries of indigenous aerospace innovation,” stated Nidhi Kachhawa, CEO, AIC-JKLU.

Next Phase of Development

Following the test, BAAS Technologies Private Limited completed a preliminary failure analysis and has initiated structured design improvements. The nozzle geometry and overall motor configuration are being re-evaluated to mitigate clogging risks and better regulate chamber pressure.

The improved motor configuration is expected to undergo the next round of static fire testing within the next 3–4 months, following comprehensive design reiteration and structural enhancements.

Through iterative testing and data-driven engineering refinement, the startup continues to strengthen its propulsion capabilities while prioritising safety, reliability, and performance.

Through iterative testing and data-driven engineering refinement, BAAS Technologies Private Limited., under the incubation support of AIC–JKLU, continues to advance indigenous propulsion technology, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, safety, and high-performance aerospace development.
