Hyderabad, 23 January: India’s premier education institution, Woxsen University, hosted Diplomat’s Conclave 2.0. Under the theme “A New Era of Diplomacy: Uniting Higher Education and Diplomacy to Drive Change,” this event featured 8 Ambassadors from countries such as Peru, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, and more, fostering collaboration between global leaders and academia.
Dr. Uma Ananda, Vice Chancellor, Woxsen University, said, “Hosting the Diplomats Conclave 2.0 at Woxsen University has been truly rewarding. We plan to integrate the exchange of ideas between global leaders and our academic community by creating more opportunities for our students to engage and participate in international projects.” She added, “At Woxsen we ensure that AI enhances learning while upholding ethical standards of AI governance. By promoting transparency and accountability, we aim to prepare our students to navigate and contribute to a world increasingly shaped by AI.”
In one of the key sessions, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Governance in Higher Education: Examining how institutions can regulate AI technologies while safeguarding democratic values and human rights,” distinguished speakers, including H.E. Fernando Bucheli, Ambassador of Ecuador; H.E. Omar Castañeda, Ambassador of Guatemala; H.E. Juan Angulo, Ambassador of Chile; and Manohar Reddy, Founder & CEO of Feuji, shared their insights. The discussion delved into the opportunities and challenges presented by AI in academia and its governance.
Dr Luis Osorio, Head of Academics Affairs for Executive Education at Woxsen University, said, “Globally, AI in education is projected to reach $25.7 billion by 2030. Universities are increasingly adopting AI to improve learning outcomes, streamline administrative tasks, and drive research innovation. However, this growth comes with challenges related to ethical governance, equity, and societal readiness. In response to these challenges, the United Nations have been actively promoting frameworks and initiatives for the ethical integration of AI in education.”
Another engaging session focused on “The Role of Sports Diplomacy in Education: Exploring how universities can leverage sports as a tool for promoting peace, development, and international cooperation through public policy initiatives.” This session saw the participation of H.E. Javier Paulinich, Ambassador of Peru to India; H.E. Alberto Guani, Ambassador of Uruguay; and H.E. Sofía Salas, Chargé d’Affaires, who highlighted how sports can bridge cultural and national divides while fostering unity.
Dr. Pep Lluis Esteva, Executive Dean and Professor at the School of Technology at Woxsen University, said ” On the sports field, serious games have the power to replace walls with lasting bridges.” He added, “The playing field is more than a venue for competition—it is a stage for collaboration, mutual respect, and understanding. Universities have the unique opportunity to leverage this universal stage to inspire global unity and foster partnerships through.”
