Anil Agarwal urges self-certification to speed up critical mineral projects in India

Bengaluru, September 30, 2025 – Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta, has called for faster approvals for critical mineral projects in India to strengthen national security and support the country’s industrial growth.

In a social media post, Agarwal noted that the United States and Canada have already moved to fast-track approvals for key mineral projects, recognizing their strategic importance. He said India is also moving in this direction, but the process could be further accelerated through self-certification for projects of national importance and urgency.

Agarwal highlighted that self-certification is already used effectively in other areas, such as income tax, and suggested extending it to strategic mineral projects. This, he said, would help India build resilient supply chains and meet its developmental goals more efficiently
